Vietnam’s Overseas Manpower Market Sees Strong Recovery, Japan Remains Top Destination
In the current year, Vietnam has already achieved a remarkable 77.47% of its annual target for sending workers abroad. This impressive progress signals a robust rebound in the international labor market for Vietnamese manpower. Within the first seven months, 85,224 Vietnamese workers secured overseas employment contracts, with female workers accounting for nearly 35% of this figure.
Japan continues to lead as the primary destination for Vietnamese manpower, welcoming 41,139 workers. Taiwan follows with 36,956, while other countries, including South Korea, China, Hungary, Singapore, and Romania, have received considerably fewer Vietnamese workers in the same timeframe.
Partnerships Bolster Vietnamese Manpower Opportunities Abroad
To address manpower shortages and create mutually beneficial relationships, Vietnam and international partners are actively forging new collaborations. In July, Vietnam’s Department of Overseas Labor Management and Japan’s Wakayama prefecture signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement provides a framework for Vietnamese workers to seek employment in Wakayama. Wakayama is particularly keen to attract Vietnamese manpower through apprenticeships, skilled worker programs, and even opportunities for engineers.
Another significant partnership focuses on preparing Vietnamese manpower for the growing elder care sector in Japan. JHL Viet Nam Group and Nozomi Japan have teamed up to offer a Japanese e-learning program for Vietnamese medical caregivers. This initiative aims to equip healthcare professionals with the skills needed for Japanese elder care, opening potential job opportunities within Japan’s aging society.
Since January 1, 2022, Vietnam and South Korea have been engaged in a five-year pilot program centered on seasonal manpower exchanges between regions. This program fosters cooperation and offers temporary work opportunities for Vietnamese citizens in South Korea.
The Future of Vietnamese Manpower on the Global Stage
These positive developments suggest a bright future for Vietnamese manpower on the international stage. As Vietnam strengthens partnerships with countries facing workforce shortages, its skilled and dedicated workers will find increasing opportunities to contribute their talents abroad. The focus on training and preparation, particularly in emerging fields like elder care, ensures that Vietnamese manpower remains competitive and highly sought after in the global marketplace.
